Right now we are primarily interested in research projects studying the mechanisms of neurodegeneration and psoriatic arthritis.
The Krembil Foundation currently does not run granting competitions or have a formal granting application. Please review our five-stage approach to better understand how we work.
Please submit a Letter of Intent to info@krembilfoundation.ca with a subject line in the following format: “Grant Application_Applicant’s Last name, First Name_Type of Grant(Research or Other)”.
Due to the high volume of submissions, only applicants who are chosen to move to the next stage of the application process will be contacted by us.

At any given time our pipeline has projects in various stages of discovery and proposal development; the number of approved proposals in a given year varies.
We do not support the following types of requests: general administration costs, operating costs, deficit financing, endowments, capital campaigns, general fundraising, construction of new or existing facilities, or grants to private individuals.

Scientific Director
Dr. Kate Williams is the Scientific Director at the Krembil Foundation. Reporting to the President and CEO, she advances the Foundation’s research initiatives by identifying high-risk, high-reward research opportunities. With a PhD in neuroscience and deep insights into the research landscape, she leads the Foundation’s strategic research direction, and oversees the Foundation’s research portfolios.
In her role, Kate fosters relationships with key opinion leaders, researchers, institutes, and universities, ensuring the Foundation’s strategic leadership in developing and evolving its research investments. This includes actively managing key investments, where regular updates with funded researchers, meticulous monitoring of research progress, and evaluation of milestones and deliverables are integral responsibilities.
